Looking for a Marriage

Edward Gardner or Gardiner, father William, married Sarah ? some time between 1851 and 1871. Can't find Edward on 1861. I know it's a long shot but here's hoping!

What other info do you have on the family?  Were they always in Monmouthshire?  What was Edward's occupation - might he have been working elsewhere?  Did they both come from the county?  Where/ when was their first child born?

William Gardner was born in Bristol. His wife Mary in Brecs. or Llandilo(sic) Carms. c. 1807. First child Edward born c.1829 Merthyr, Glam.

1841 william is a carpenter. Family at Uchlawrcoed, North Yard.
1851 William is a carpenter, Edward is a puddler. Family at Colliers Row, Tredegar.
1871 Edward has married Sarah from Angle, Pembs. Children are Edward c.1868  Pontypridd, Mary c.1870. Tredegar Dad is still a puddler. On this one he's down as lodger.

No trouble with !871-1901. Rhys from the Mon. board couldn't find the family in 1861,  he thinks they might be amongst the 6000 or so missing records, I thought I would try some other ways of tracking them.

The 1851 census has a Sarah LAWLISS of the right age, born Angle.

She is not present on later censuses.

Might be worth checking the complete marriage indexes to see whether she appears in the time-frame you have in mind?

Will check back later to see how you are getting on.

(I assume the family don't have lodgers or rellies with names that you migh try?)

No .lodgers or anything that I could see. I checked FreeBMD and Ancestry. Couldn't find a marriage. I think I also had a look at IGI, but I'm not certain!

I have re-checked all the above and found nothing for Sarah. I found out quite a lot about the rest of the family, though.
