If you follow this link it will take you a list of place names in Kent commencing with “N” . . . within the list is both a Newbury and a Little Newbury.

As there is debate about it being NewBURY or NewHURST . . . In the same list of place names commencing with “N” there is a Newhurst in Kent

Wow, thank you.  I imagine it must be the first one, so it is Newbury!  His sons were born at Tonge and Milton.  I decided to pick up my partner's family tree again and as his surname is Marden what do you think the chances are of him coming from Marden Kent.  I have the Mardens to 1700 in Kent!

As you will have seen from the list of place names commencing with "N" Newbury is in the parish of Tonge - so you appear to have some circumstantial evidence for your seach. Thats spookie Kerry I have ancesters in Staplehurst in the 1700's which is the next parish to Marden.
