Birth - stradling

Trying to locate the birth of Margaret Stradling.

From 1841 and 1851 census returns she would have been born around 1839/1840 in the Maesteg area, possibly Llangynwyd.

Her mother's name was probably Jennet Stradling (possibly formerly Leyshon).

However both 1841 and 1851 census returns do not show a father present.

It is possible that Jennet married William Stradling c.1827, but it is also possible that he died prior to 1837.

Help - I cannot locate the birth, am I just missing it?

Hi welshjo, do you think that maybe she was born before 1837 and before certification? Have you tried looking for the other childrens birth certs? I can't see it anywhere, unless she wasn't named when she was registered, have you looked for Female Stradling's? or maybe she just wasn't registered.

All her siblings listed in census are older than her by at least 5 years so would be pre registration.
Only a younger brother John, listed as aged 7 in 1851 would be after 1837 (along with her).
Her age on all subsequent census returns always gives a birth of around 1839/40

Hi, I don't know what to suggest, a bit of a mystery. I've had the same with my great nan, who was born 31st January 1888 but can I find a birth cert for her! Its like she doesn't exist. Maybe she is on the parish records, seeing as you have a possible parish that she was born in gives you a bit of a start.

They could be mine
The 1871 census has William Davies (change of name again!)aged 33, Margaret aged 32, Anne aged 13 and other younger children the eldest of which being Sarah aged 10.
