Found by my aunt - not a bible but two small books
« on: Wednesday 12 July 06 11:20 BST (UK) »
Visited my aunt yesterday evening

She has found two small Books
One is dated 1828 Christian womens Pocket book
Seems to have mainly BOyce family dates, including Giles Family
MAny births deaths and marriages reported, some of which are new to me
Some deaths reported including time
My grandmother added newr family members and such useful information as the burth of Princess Anne's children, and my grandmother's cat.

Another a little the worse for wear is a birthday book
Obviously of similar date to the first, maye a few years later
This seems to be more on the Douglas family
HOwever one or two birthdays are reported on two successive days!

Both books seem to have some unfamiliar names, these may be friends o more distant relatives - Russels
It s also clear in the birthday book that may of the people have written their own entry

MOst of these are in the Egham area or more distant relatives

When fully transcribed I will report here the results

Wonderful! A contact of mine (through GR or CuriousFox, I can't remember which) had been handed down a similar notebook with births, marriages, deaths (including time and cause of death) and kindly copied some of it to me.  It's a fabulous resource.

Hope you find some treasure in there!

Anna :)

Wonderful find! I'm interested in the Giles family you mention. Could you put up a few names and dates?
Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks very much! The early death of William explains why he is not to be found on the 1841 census. I am trying to untangle a number of Giles families and this will help me quite a bit :) Now I just have to dig out the files and try to make sense of it...
Regards,
Sarah

 Hi

I am descended through the Boyce family.

Let me know if there is any connection. I have a few minor bits and pieces for Egham, directories, and very occasionally go to Egham museum
