hwere would i find records of a property buy.

hi some kind person has told me that my gggggranfather was a baker and bought bowyetts in torphichen .i dident know anything of this so its somewhat of a treat.he was born in 1768 in torphichen he married margaret hamilton.
what im wondering is where can i find out more about his bakery.he is said to have left it to his daughter jean born 1795.

Have you had a look at Berlin Bob's contribution on the general Scottish threads  Never Mind How to Pronounce It, Sasines Are Useful".

Every time a property changes hands (legally) a record is kept and they stretch away back to the 1500's.
