1841 Census: Warwickshire: John BATEMAN - COMPLETE
« on: Thursday 13 July 06 19:54 BST (UK) »
I would greatly appreciate a lookup in the 1841 census for Warwickshire, probably Coventry, for John BATEMAN, b. 1801 Coventry, a butcher.  Living with him should be his wife Charlotte Bateman, b. 1788 Coventry; daughter Emma Bateman, b. 1824 Coventry, as well as several other children.

In 1851, the family is living in Coventry [H0107/2068/101/1].

Thanks, rthom

Many thanks for all this, Jim.  You are one step ahead of me!  I am fairly sure that the John, 65, & Elizabeth (née Pearson) are the parents of John, 40, on Bishop St.  I had seen the parish records on the IGI and came to the same conclusion.  I have just got into research on the Pearson family in Coventry.

Are there different census record numbers for John, 65, and the William Bateman, 62, butcher?

Regards, rthom

Many thanks, Jim.  Yes, it does look like a family business -- at least father, brother, son.  I believe the Pearsons were whitesmiths.

They're still going strong in 1851.  Not sure about 1861 yet.
