I would think that the IGI (www.familysearch.org |) might have info on the earlier marriages/births

hi ,iam looking for a geddes connection,my gggrandfather alexander geddes was born 1871 banff,his wife was mary ,daughters mary  and jessie does any one has any info or related many thanks ,sally

Hi Sally,
   Although my great grandparents, John Geddes and Helen Spalding were married in 1871 in Banff, their son Alexander was born in 1893.
Unless one of John's brothers had a son named Alexander around 1871 this might be the only connection.
I haven't done much searching on John's siblings so I can't help you any further.
I will keep your info on hand in case anything pops up.

Hello Jimbo, I have been given details of Margaret Dow (ms Geddes).  died 10 Sep 1855 age 76, parents Peter Geddes, seaman and Mary Sutherland. Their marriage in IGI 17 may 1775 Rathven, Banff Hope this helps.

Looking for info re James Geddes born about 1875 Fordyce, Banff ... married Helen Grant, lived in 43 New House Street Buckie, was Cabinet Maker ... in 1901 census, they had child Helen Geddes born 1899/1900.      Happy New Year to all

  My James Geddes was born Sept. 1877 in Fordyce. He was a Cabinetmaker by trade. He had 2 marriages. I don't have his first wife's name but he had 2 children Hellen and Jean. His second wife was Annabella Flett and they had 4 children, Alexander, George, Isabella, and Anne. James died Dec.19, 1922 at 35 High Street in Buckie.
       James father was John Geddes who married Hellen Spalding. They had 11 children.

   Does this info match up with yours ?
