looks like young Albert was in the 152nd Company of the Machine Gun Corps (The Machine Gun Corps being his Regiment).

Hi,
When i was looking for similar information i used the following web site.
http://www.machineguncorps.co.uk
They used to have some one who would do basic research for about £10. I don't know if they still offer that service.
Good look

looking at the above link, the 152nd was attached to the 51st (highland) division, a unit with some very fine history

look at this link for it's WW1 history  http://www.1914-1918.net/51div.htm

alberts entry in the sdgw

looking further it would seem you should be looking at the The Third Battle of the Scarpe - 3rd - 4th May 1917

good luck!

;D thank you everyone for your time and effort  i wasnt sure about the 51st with it being a "high land " divison and albert was from feckenham, worcestershire  so please excuse my ignorance
but youve now certainly gave me enough to do some digging
as i have said albert and my great grandfather were raised together as my g,grandad was an orphan , i found them both on the 1901 census ,then i was given his mothers will in which she left him 50 pounds (in 1946) he bought a pedal/motorcycle and returned to were he served in france, albert wasnt mentioned
in her will so the first place i looked for him was cwgc and sadly i found him .now thanks to your help i can make him more than just a name and for my family at least not forgotten
thank you all

Albert Victor Shrimpton has no known grave. His name is inscribed on the ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France Bay 10.
His parents (mother) also placed his name on their gravestone in Plymouth Road Cemetery Redditch.
The inscription reads

Victor of Crabbs Cross died 15th July 1920
aged 54
also Albert Victor
only son died Belgium
16th May 1917 aged 24

Regards

Valda
