as you can guess i am smiling from ear to ear this is wonderful, thank you for the time you spent on this, did you notice that from the 1891 census to the 1901 census, thomas only aged 7 years!! wish we all could do that!!

Well, the family were split in 1871

James McKechnie is living on his own at Kirkfield, Arrochar,aged 31, married, a fish merchant, born Inschinnan, Renfrewshire. GROS Ref - vol 492, ED 2, Page 11

Meanwhile the children and Mary (as her maiden name) were with grandparents in Row - vol 503,ED 9, Page 23

13 people in the one house!!! goodness!!! lot of typing there gadget!!! it is well appreciated my friend, remember that on the night of 2nd april 1871 they wanted to know who was in the house, assuming that william purves answered the census he has also named his other married daughter as purves!! james mckechnie would be away on business, gadget did you not notice the "bhoy" in my name?

As you can see above the massive family, James is in Arrochar.
