Ilford, Essex - Baptism

Are there any baptism records for Ilford Essex in about 1801. I am trying to find Stella Sorlie, daughter of Sholto Sorlie and Mary ?. If so, is there anyone who can check for me. Your help would be appreciated.

I checked out Great Ilford but none of the parishes there started before 1831 and that was St Mary's.
I looked at Little Ilford D/P 175/1/1 C, M, B 1539-1812 fiche 1 of 3 and searched baptisms from 1794-1805 but there's no trace of any SORLIE or Stella. That period was very easy to search for that church because there were few entries.
I think at that time Ilford was overshadowed  by places like Wanstead, Barking and East Ham and it's possible people from Ilford went to one of their churches.
Do you have any further clues?

Thankyou for this information. It is much appreciated. It sounds as though the person who wrote the details in 1801 did not know how to spell Sholto. I was wondering if you could please help me with something else. I have yet to find out Stella's mother's maiden name. Does the Essex R.O. have marriages and deaths. I know that Sholto Sorlie remarried in 1812 to Mary Yates. I think his first wife was Mary Shalts but yet to confirm. I was hoping they may have got married at the same place and maybe she died there too. Once again, thankyou for your help.

Hi I've just looked up IGI and found Sholto Douglass SORLEE marrying Mary BELLWOOD on 8 Feb 1796 at Yarm Yorkshire.
Do you still want a look-up for Barking?

Thankyou for this information. I been on the IGI so many times, yet I never got this result. I say this is the correct one as Sholto Sorlie wasn't a common name. There is no need to look in Barking.

The results from searching the IGI are very puzzling. When I searched it yesterday (inputting date of 1800 + or - 10 years) I got 4 results including your Sholto marrying in 1796. But when I searched it just now I got only the 1812 marriage. Very strange - it looks as if I made it up but I promise I didn't ::)
