Stinton/Burrough marriage
« on: Tuesday 18 July 06 20:50 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am stuck trying to find evidence for the marriage of my maternal GGrandfather and GGrandmother.

He is John Stinton C1815 Worcester.(From Census)
She is Jane Burrough C1837 Honiton Devon (From census) evidence for maiden name Grandfathers birth certificate he was the eldest child and born in Bristol  Nov 1871.
Census returns show:
1871 John and Jane @ Colston Place, St Phillip&Jacob, Bristol.
1881 John, Jane + 4children  @ Blue School St, Hereford. Eldest sons age doesn't exactly fit nov '71 but I do have the certificate.
1891 Jane as head with youngest daughter @ Bedford St, St Philip&Jacob, Bristol.
1901 Jane with eldest daughter as M-in-Law @ Chaplin Rd, Easton, Bristol
I have found and sent for a death for John Stinton Cheltenham sept 1887 which fits with him disappearing from the census between '81 and'91
(Edit) Certificate shows he died at Union Workhouse, Cheltenham.
Using Ancestry BMDs and also 1837 BMDs I have been unable to find any Jane Burrough or Burrow or Borough etc marrying on the same page as any of the few John Stintons.

Has anyone got any ideas?
