The PULESTON Family of Pickhill
« on: Wednesday 19 July 06 12:27 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

Are there any researches out there that have researched this particular branch of the Puleston family?

I'm trying to find out the date of marriage between John Puleston & Eleanor Bayley (daughter of James Bayley of Wistaston, Cheshsire), & how many children they had.  I know they married sometime before 1714.  I think they had a daughter called Anne.

Hope somebody can help

Jayson

Hi Jayson

I only discovered over the weekend that I have a Katherine Puleston and Edward Griffiths  m. 24 December 1692, Bangor on Dee in my  tree.  I'm still investigating. I believe Pickhill is in/near B on D.

Any connection?

I noticed quite a lot of Pulestons in the B on D parish records. I'll check for a marriage of John.

Although as this Family is said to be from Pickhill,it is then likely to be in the Bangor-On-Dee Parish Registers, the Puleston Family historically are more likely to be found in the Worthenbury Parish.

This John Puleston can be found on the IGI on family search.org,and is said to have been Baptised at Bangor on the 5th of March 1685,the son of John Puleston and Anne Alport.

Thanks William - I'll have a look at both sets of records and see if I can link this John to my Katherine. They give more info than the IGI.

Hi Gadget

I'm almost certain that your Katherine Puleston belonged to the same family of the Pulestons who resided at Pickhill Hall & Emral Hall.  My ancestor Eleanor Bayley married into the Pickhill branch.

Have you tried: www.puleston-jones.com/

It's a family tree page - run by Haydn Puleston-Jones - dedicated to the Puleston family, there are some wonderful pictures showing where various branches of the family lived.  You could send him a message to see if he knows which branch of the family your ancestor descended from.  He was able to show me which branch my ancestor married into.

All the best - Jayson.

Hi Jayson

Thanks ever so much for that link.

As I said, I only found this pair over the weekend so know very little as yet.

Might that make us very distant cousins  ::)

Wow - 1155. My goodness  :D And it might explain how my Roger got his name - certainly not from the paternal line so via Elizabeth and Katherine maybe  :)
