Abbots Langley/ Ovaltine Farms
« on: Thursday 20 July 06 10:45 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Anyone out there live or work in either Abbotts Langley of the Ovaltine Farms?

Im trying to find out why my Great Grandfather died. I have heard that he had a heart attack and have also heard that he infact comitted suicide.

His name was Arthur Bryant and he was the Game Keeper at Bluebell wood and Royal hunting lodge. (not sure of the exact estate name-could have been Longwood.
He died in 1953.

His daughter, Doreen Bryant was the clerk at Longwood cottage, which I believe was linked to the Ovaltine factory.

Any info on either would be appreciated.

Hi

Do you a have a death certificate for Arthur?  I checked the GRO indexes for 1953, but I cannot find it.  It would be well worth ordering it as it would give you his cause of death.

I believe that gamekeepers had to be registered, so it might be worth checking at HALS to see if any records survive for him.

The Ovaline factory and model farm have been redevoloped, but here are some links.  The farm was particularly pretty.
