Burials - Holmfirth, Hepworth etc - KAYE
« on: Thursday 20 July 06 15:20 BST (UK) »
My ancestor Paul KAYE died in 1818 in Holmfirth, does anyone know where might he be buried at that time?

I know the children were baptised at Almondbury and then grandchildren were baptised at the Wesleyan Chapel in Holmfirth, and the majority of the children lived in the Holme/Holmfirth area by the 1841 census.

I've been looking at the HDFHS publications list and there's burial records of Holy Trinity, Hepworth Wesleyan, and Honley St Mary's - would it be worth looking in these for the KAYEs?

Many thanks for any replies

~ Claire

Hi Claire

There are 2 Paul Kaye's on the Huddersfield NBI as follows:

Paul Kaye - 22 June 1819
Age: 26
Place: Huddersfield, Almondbury All Hallows
Den:  Anglican

Paul Kaye - 2 June 1818
Age:  64
Place Holmfirth, Wesleyan Chapel
Den:  Methodist

Could either of these be yours?

Hi Claire,

Have you tried this website - they might be able to help..... http://www.kayfamilyassociationuk.com/
You have to join but it's half price after June (so about £4 I think, if you're in the UK)

The have lots of info on Kay(e)s in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Good Luck - I know how common the Kay(e) name is around Huddersfield - I have some too - but no Paul as yet!!

Hi Claire

Sorry, don't know if the church is still there.  I got these from the Family History Online site.

http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/login/login_submit.pl

I've found lots of my Yorkshire ones on there.  It's pay per view but only 6p for burials so not too expensive.

The site actually lists all the places covered, may be worth a look.  See you're from my neck of the woods.

I've found all my Halifax, Todmorden and Shaw Holy Trinity on there.
