Hi Karen

A pleasure.   The marriage is listed in the Somerset marriage index which is available on CD from Somerset & Dorset FHS.

No, I am not related.   Like many Wiltshire RootsChatters I enjoy the thrill of the chase and, in my case, I do look-ups while I wait for other Chatters to help me negotiate the sixty or so brickwalls that have me stumped.

Best wishes,

Colin

Hi Karen,

I have had a bit more of a delve.   I suspect that you know this, but in case not.....

Hanna Morris was probably not born in Sherston Magna.   There is a Morris family comprising parents Michael and Ann and Sarah 1779 and Betty 1788 into which Hanna would fit.   Michael and Ann were not married in Sherston so Hanna would have moved there with her parents when young [ie guessing she is older than Sarah].   Hanna and John Sayer lived in Sherston after their marriage.

If this scenario is correct, one wonders why Hanna went to Bedminster to marry.   Did the Morris family originate from Somerset.

But here is one more coincidence for you.   02 Apr 1804 John Hewlin married a Sarah Morris at Bedminster.

I shall leave you to ruminate over anything new in here.

Best wishes

Colin
