Hi John,
My maternal 8x gt grandmother was Margaret Poulter she married William Tweed in 1719 at Gt Thurlow, Suffolk and they settled in Ashley cum Silverley and Chevely and its possible Margaret was baptised in Ashley in 1697.
I also have the name Poulter on my paternal side but they were in Gt Shelford.

Tempsford.

Could any kind person advise how I may find the vital records for the Wallis family of Kirtling, who go back to the 1700's. In 1840, Daniel Wallis is shown as a blacksmith, aged 20.

You could
- purchase the transcript from Cambs FHS at http://www.cfhs.org.uk/cgi-bin/bookstall.cgi which is available on either fiche or CDrom
- go to your nearest LDS family history centre where you can order and view a microfilm of the parish register - list of centres at www.familysearch.org
- go to Cambridge Records Office where you can view the microfilm
- baptisms and burials 1801-37 are covered in the indexes at http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html  eg you'll find a Daniel baptised in 1818 son of Daniel and Sarah
- purchase the BVRI set of CDroms from the LDS which includes baptisms and marriages only. Kirtling is included.
- the same information which is on the BVRI is now available to subscribers to Ancestry.co.uk
- post a look up request on this board! Those with the transcript or with the BVRI might be able to help eg Daniel was baptised on 23 Aug 1818
