Is St. Thomas near Exeter?
« on: Monday 24 July 06 21:49 BST (UK) »
I don't live in the UK, so I am not familiar with places.   My husband  always said that his mothers family, the Pedlars were from Exeter.  After doing some research I find his mother was born in St Thomas, Devon, just wondered if this is close to Exeter.
We are trying to research the Pedlar/Middlewick/ families, in the hopes of finding some relatives.
William Pedlar c. 1880  St Thomas, Father   John Henry Pedlar, mother Amelia Townsend.  Married Louisa Kate Middlewick bd 1882 Torquay, Father Josiah Middlewick, mother Louisa Sparks.

In other words - YES
St Thomas District and parish were immediately next to Exeter - south of the Exe River.

Basically yes, as you've learned from the previous replies. St. Thomas is now entirely a part of Exeter, and one of the largest suburbs.

Ryan.
