When people answer my queries, quite often their email address gets put in my address book.

How can I stop this please?

Gem :)

Hi Gem

Are you using Outlook Express?

If so I think it put's email addresses into your address book once you reply. If this is the case, to stop this:

Go to Tools, Options, Send and then untick "Automatically put people I reply to in my address book"

Does this help at all?

Thanks for your reply Steve.

The email address gets put into my address book when they answer my querie (your reply has not done this )not when I answer theirs.

update: This is not happening on "Rootschat" but on other mailing lists.

The only option I can see or know of is the one about stopping the automatic add once you have replied ???

It must be a setting somewhere. I have searched options on Outlook Express and gone to the help section, but cannot seem to find an option to stop email address's automatically going into your address book on receipt.

I will let you know if I find a solution to your problem!

Regards
Steve

Hiya Gem,

The email sites I use give me the option of adding an address if I receive a message from a new person. I have several address. I use two on a regular basis. I have not come across automatic installation of an address so checked this with a friend who agreed with me it seems a strange state of affairs.

I hope your problem is solved soon.

Chris
