Turton family - Rothwell
« on: Thursday 27 July 06 20:04 BST (UK) »
John Turton, born C1753 in Rothwell, married Frances Hewitt from Garforth on 24/11/1778.  I'm trying to trace his parents.  I think they could be Joseph Turton and Ann Earl.
Can any one help, please!

May be you've searched nearby parishes ?   My Turton's were at Whitkirk and Colton parish.  A generation or so early for you, yet could be same family.
My ancestor Edmund Turton buried 1696 Whitkirk, had 6 children.
I see you have interest in Bowron of  Barnard Castle.  So have I.  Dorothy baptised there in 1797.

After I posted this message I was able to confirm the parents as being Joseph and Ann.
You mentioned Dorothy Bowron - what a coincidence, she was my 3xgreatgrandmother.  She married William Hall from Hull.  Their son Jesse was my ancestor.  What's the connection with your family? (do you mid me asking).

Dorothy Bowron was my gg-grandmother.  Am descended from her son William, born c1830.  This is my maternal line.  Turton paternal.
I'd like to correspond using email but not thru' Roots Chat.  Am unsure if this note is unseen by others  Do you know about this matter ?  Have looked around but still unsure.
