Stevens family tree
« on: Monday 31 July 06 21:36 BST (UK) »
Hi,

looking for parents of William Stevens, b1821 in Exton, S/set.

Married Elizabeth (b1808, surname unknown), had children Elizabeth 1849, Clarissa 1841, Thomas 1845, Louisa 1852.

In 1851 anbd 1861 William lived in Lydeard St Lawrence and worked as a farm labourer and buillock dealer.

Any info on his parents, or his wife (Elizabeth) surname and parents would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Thats interesting. I bet we are related but I don't know how. I have a big Stevens family tree originating from Dulverton, Brompton Regis, Exton, Winsford.

Have to see if I can find a link.

Tom,

would be interested to see if we're linked at all.

The last 'Stevens in my line was Louisa, b1852 d1914.  She married Francis Larcombe of Nettlecombe and lived her life there.

I know pretty much nothing about the Stevens in my line apart from that which I've already written here so I hope its enough to help you if there is a link!

Could well be the same chap Tom.  My William is listed as being from Exon on the '51 Census, Exton on the '61 Census and.. wait for it WINSFORD on the 1871 Census.

Then his parents could be William Stevens born 1786 (Dulverton??) and Elizabeth Norman born 1786 (Exton??).

But I am not sure of this.

Parish records, Dulverton and Winsford.

They were so hard to read I would like to try again !!!

I feel I am right but I was probably a bit tired.

Looks promising though !!

There are a couple of William Stevens listed on the 41 and 51 census, neither of them obviously the right one :(

One of them does have a daughter called Elizabeth, which would fit as kids tended to be called after their parents, however, there is no wife around.  Do you know if Elizabeth Norman died relatively early in life, before her 50s?
