search for my brannans
« on: Tuesday 01 August 06 17:18 BST (UK) »
I know it`s a long shot but worth a try . I am searching  for a Mosses Brannan ( later Brannen ,Brenan etc. ). He was born in Wexford circa 1816. He married a girl called Mary born circa 1819 and they had a daughter called Ann born circa 1840 before moving to England. I have them in England in 1851 but would like to know more. I know it may be an impossible task but will thank you anyway. I really appreciate this

Hiya Suzi,

You are right about this being a long shot. You have Moses, Mary and Ann in England in 1851. Did Moses and Mary have any other children in England? That might help in the search. It's a pity you have not got Mary's surname. Hunting through records for a Mary born about 1819 in Wexford could be an interesting task for someone with plenty of time on their hands. An Anne Brennan, Slevoy, Taghmon, Wexford is mentioned in Griffith's Valuation of Co. Wexford 1853. I am not sure if that will be much help. It might be worthwhile checking the spelling variations.

Hiya Suzi,

Brannan does not appear in the extracts of Griffith's Valuation on John Hayes website. I mentioned Anne
in my earlier message ... there's also a Catherine Brennan, Newtown, Adamstown, Wexford listed as well
as Jane Brennan, Village of Hollyfort, Kilnahue, Wexford, There are some Marys and Johns on the list.
One of these people could be a grandparent of the children of Moses and Mary.

Hi Christopher

thanks for coming back to this especially at 5 in the morning. I was wondering if I got a birth Cert. for 1 of the children would that give the maiden nameof Mary?.

Hiya Suzi,

I think it might give Mary's maiden name.
