Calling Niall Heron in Dunmurry.
« Reply #9 on: Friday 02 January 09 18:11 GMT (UK) »
Some wonderful manuscripts have come to hand regarding the history of the Herons in Ireland from the late 1600s  -the full accounts are lodged in the  Public Records Office of Northern Ireland, Balmoral Ave, Belfast

Collected by Niall Heron ,Dumurry, Belfast  these make fascinating reading and confirm that John Heron emigrated from Newton Stewart ,Galloway in Scotland about a month after the battle of Bothwell Brig 22nd June 1679.

I cannot access a telephone number for Niall and until I write to him I hesitate to copy his work online without his permission.

Dear Fransmoi,
If you really want to research the Heron Family in a big way I suggest you refer to the Publick Record Office, Balmoral. They have all the necessary information from c.1254-1960; ref: T/1766;documents including leases, rentals, accounts and correspondence, c. 1725-1940; ref:D/3302. I would imagine the documents you refer to are already common knowledge.

Yours, etc.,  Newgent.

I came upon this chap in my search but he does not seem to be related to any of mine.I suspect that he will be mentioned in Hudson Bay records and in an on-line history of the company.I'd wager there are books for sale on line also covering the subject.
You do realise I will be looking for him too now. That's the trouble with genealogy - there are those of us who cannot leave a twig alone and produce bushes rather than trees.!
Good hunting,
Fransmoi.

I am also from this Francis Heron.  I am wondering if anyone knows where Prospect Hill is? Is there any information on his family in Ireland? Any help very much appreciated!
Kindest regards,
Leanne

I believe Prospect Hill was in Londonderry.
I have been away from this for some time, but have done research on Francis Heron of the HBC, some of his children--Edward and Jane Mary in particular.

Does this listing have a Robert Heron's son christened in the
Presbyterian April 8, 1700?  If so this is the info that I am looking for!
Thank you in advance for your response!
