Hi

I think it might be best to ask one of the mods to pu this request on the Flintshire board  :)

Rhyl and I think you might mean Ffynnongrowy are both in Flintshire. See:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/FLN/Ffynnongroyw/index.html

Do you have any idea when he died?

It might also be worth checking him out on the North Wales BMD site:

http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk/

which, I believe have all the Flintshire birth, marriage and death records online.

On the 1901 Census, for Crook, Co. Durham, there is a Joseph Williams, visitor, 38, single, coal miner, hewer, b. Flintshire, Tryfddyn
Ref RG13/4653,Folio 32, page 31.

This might be worth checking out. There is a Treffynnon (Holywell) in Flint, not sure about a 'Tryfddyn' though. I certainly haven't heard of it and it looks like an enumerator trying to make sense of a Welsh place name ???

Purely, speculative, but with such little information there, is not much to go on.

I suggest that you get hold of William Williams. b. 1908's birth cert which will give his mother's maiden name.

As far as the 1901 Census is concerned,it should read Tryddyn which is near Leeswood. The 1871 Census shows Joseph to be the son of John and Amelia williams. He is consistently from Tryddyn through the Census years.

Hi again

There are two possible birth cert refs for William Williams - Note that these are by date of registration not birth:

Both -

Reg District - Auckland
Quarter - June 1909

William Williams - page 242

These can be ordered online at:

hi
thank you for that. Having spoken to my mother in law the Marriage-Joseph Williams-Penninah Williams is the right one. Not sure on which of the the birthsis right though. Wonder what i was doing wrong not to be able to find them? Penninah particularly is an unusual name so should i go to the Durham records to find both their birth dates? I must admit i am getting lost with the welsh names sorry  :-[
this is much appreciated everyone.

Carla

you could get the marriage cert from Durham, but also from the GRO

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

The GRO Ref for the marriages is:Durham Reg Dist, Mar Q, 1907, Vol 10a, Page 590

Unfortunately the 1909 Birth registers don't show the mother's maiden name so you'll have to get both birth certs from the GRO or ask for a search on mother's name.
