Carla

It might help if we knew the birth order but a location would be better.
The Dudley one would fit with the1901 one - age at death, etc. Black country was mining. I'll check out Dudley a bit more. Some of my ancestors were in that area at one stage and they were miners.

Where did William live as a teenager/adult?

Chiltern -that's North Oxfordshire  - so something that sounds like Chiltern in the North then  :-\

ho hum i like to keep you occupied...wouldnt want you to get bored. Birth order for Joseph's children are William (born in spennymoor 1908) then Sally, elizabeth, leslie(boy). I believe that is right. It was mum in law that stated Chiltern up North, so goodness knows. Hmmmm can you see why i am muddled lol?? I believe Joseph was a miner (as was his son william).
Does any of this help you at all??? I am so greatful i cant thank you enough?? I think i need a glass of wine now

SHILDON !!

And I've got a headache  :)

I can't see a FreeBMD for that area of Durham  - it seems to be mainly marriages. Would be worth asking on the Durham board now

I haven't found anything - just that Shildon seems the most likely place - it's in the right area and sounds like Chiltern

I think a summary of what we've found is perhaps in order:

Joseph Williams m Penninah Williams - 1907 Durham

They have children William (1908 - spennymoor), Sally (sarah?), Elizabeth and Leslie

Penninah is living with her parents in 1891 - John and Elizabeth Williams, b. circa 1884

Penninah's birth registered June q, 1883

Penninah's parents marriage - John Williams and Elizabeth Roberts 1873

Joseph died aged 56 of emphysemia - probably Shildon Co. Durham.
To find his DoB - as there are three possibles - we should get it from marriage or death - but these are not always accurate.

It might be worth tracing all three possibles through the censuses to see if any of them are likely candidates. Think I'd wait till next week though and get it from the Marriage cert.

Now you go get some wine and think of other things for a while. My head hurts!

Let us know the age on the certificates - I reckon he will be in his early 40s  ;)
