Picture Framer to Market Gardener- Rotherham
« on: Monday 07 August 06 16:02 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find any information on one Albert Smith who in the 1920's had a Picture Framing shop in Rotherham. His home address was Gladys St
At some stage I believe he went into Market Gardening and I remember passing Greenhouses, possibly at Swallownest which belonged to Albert Smith.
With such a common name I dont know whether this was just a family rumour or if it was the one I'm looking for.
He was born 1884 inYork, the family moving there from Aberdeen. Most of the family were listed as Combmakers.they came to Sheffield before 1886.
Albert married in Sheffield and his wife Emily died there in 1914.
He remarried [I think!] someone called Annie, there were 3 children George Millie and Alma.I think george might have been Annie's son from a previous marriage but cant find the birth's of any of the children. It was Annie who lived with him in Rotherham.
I was hoping to find their marriage and birth of the children and any information/photo's of Picture Framing or Market Gardening business
Many Thanks
Audrey
