Marriage Sarah Longhurst

Sarah Longhurst married George Hood/Hoad 27 Dec 1862 at Wotton.

Would be grateful if someone has access to PR's to look this up. Hoping to find Sarah's father's name and confirmation of Hood/Hoad.

I realise this may not be on the published m/fiche transcription of the PR's.

Hi Dawn,
The transcript only goes to 1840 but FreeBMD has the marriage Dec. Q. 1862, Dorking (2a 225) & he's down as George HOOD.

But the infamous IGI has him as Hoad! and both are subject to errors.

Wotton 1813-1840 only has the name HOAD.
Baptisms.
1819 - Hannah HOAD  d/o Richard & Martha
1821 - Henry HOAD    s/o           ditto of Okewood Hill parish
1824 - John HOAD      s/o           ditto
1830 - Sarah HOAD    d/o    Henry & Rebecca
1834 - George HOAD  s/o    George & Martha
1837 - Henry HOAD    s/o            ditto

Okewood Chapel has more entry's for HOAD cross referenced with HOAT.
I have heard that some registration centres retain copies of the certificates & if you call them with all the references & providing it takes less than 10 minutes, they will give you the details you need.  I've never done this but you can ask on Rootschat, as that's where I came across it.

In this instance I think I'll stick with the IGI spelling as you seem to have other evidence to back it up.

I'll give the offices at Guildford a ring to see what they can do for free
