Courtbridge/Cortbridge, Glasgow
« on: Saturday 14 February 04 20:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I am researching my grandfathers' family who we believe came from the above town. We're not sure of correct spelling as he rarely shared info with his off-spring.
His name was John Mackenzie, born 1887.  He had a sister Ellis who we think was younger than him.
John fought in the 42nd Regiment of the Black Watch during the 1914-18 war.
He emigrated to NZ arriving in 1923/24 via Australia.

We would appreciate any assistance or direction with his family history, thanks.
Regards,
Gill

There is a wounderfull site called Scotlands people which shows over 900 records for the name MacKenzie born between 1886-1888

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for replying to my query.  Unfortunately I have no information as to the christian names of my ggparents from Scotland.  My gfather was very tight lipped with details.
Would it be possible to look up the census and see if there are any Mackenzies' listed from Coatbridge at that time please? With so little info I have a brick wall really.  We know that he lied about his age to fight in the 1914-1918 war.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Gill
