Smith family
« on: Friday 11 August 06 18:00 BST (UK) »
My paternal grandfather was John William Smith born Nov. 7, 1887 in Farnworth, England.  Siblings were Lucy born abt. 1876, Albert born abt. 1882, Carrie, born abt. 1885, and Mary born abt. 1891.  If anyone out there knows of this family I would appreciate contact.  Thank you.  Wendy W.

With regards to the message I posted, I am looking for marriages of my grandfather's (John William Smith) siblings, in particular Albert Smith, and the possibility of finding relatives still living in England.

Hi Wendy,

www.cheshirebmd.org.uk has pretty good coverage for marriages in the time period you are looking at.  A quick look shows:
Caroline Smith m Samuel KELLETT 1902 Bredbury St Mark ST64/7/464
Albert Smith m Jane A HOGG 1903 Bredbury St Mark ST64/7/497
You can search the site yourself for free.

With a surname like Smith it is difficult to know if these are the right marriages of course - only the certificate or the parish register could confirm you have the right family.  The LDS has films for Bredbury St Mark 1847 - 1981 so you could order the microfilm from them at a small cost if you have a centre near you.

Hi Jean:  Thank you so much for the information.  I shall try the web site you indicated.  I will leave my message on hoping perhaps a relative may see it.

Again, thank you for the help.
