Help to find Benjamin Kelly

Hi
 Ihave found him with his mum & dad in 1841 i think.
Dad John Kelly born 1821 Manchester
Mum Ann  ?      born 1821        ?
Benjamin         born 1840 Manchester
 
And again in 1891
Benjamin born 1841 Manchester
Mary  ?    born 1855 Liverpool ( wife )
Lilly  daughter born 1889 Manchester ( my grandmother )
Denis born 1887 Manchester
Alfred born 1885 Manchester
Emily born 1884 Liverpool

But i can not find them in any other census, if any one can help i would be very greatfull, gran would not say alot about the past i only know my great grandfather name was Benjamin as it was on her wedding certificate.

Which district of Manchester were they in on 1841 census & what was John's occupation?

Might give a clue where to look on damp bits of 1851 census.

Also, what is Benjamin's own occupation in 1891?

The 1841 district was Deansgate and John was it look's like card stripper
Benjamin in 1891 was a gen labourer and the district was Ancoats.

Benjamin Kelly; head; mar; 36; police officer Lancs Yorks Rly; Lancs, Manchester
Mary do; wife; mar; 22; Lancs, Liverpool
Ada do; dau; 1; Lancs, Liverpool

Caught my eye because of the 14 year gap in their ages.

He doesn't want to come out of hiding!

I can't see him on the unfilmed returns for Manchester 1851 that I have access to - St Georges, Deansgate, London Road

I can't find him in 1861 or 1871 either.

I can't find a marriage before the 1881 census, but I did find a birth & death reg for Ada Kelly.

Found a possible marriage in 1882 - Mary Rowlands, West Derby Q4

  Thanks for all your help, i don't think the Kelly's want to be found and my gran would not tell us a thing, i found she had married 3 time's and i don't think she lost all 3 husbands, will i ever know,  that is the question ??

Looked on 1851 Unfilmed for Chorlton on Medlock, Hulme, Ardwick, Deansgate, London Rd, St George, Regent Rd, Greengate

Sorry, no trace of him
