Thompson Kircudbright
« on: Tuesday 15 August 06 10:15 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for Thompsons in Kircudbright, possibly a Hebert Thompson who married a Leslie in the 1900s and moved to Sheffield and had a son Herbert Leslie Thompson in 1905.  I know this is a long shot but the spelling is unusual in Scotland and Kircudbright isn't so big a place so can anyone help?

Hi duckweed

Sorry to say there are no marriages in the SP index for a THOM*SON/LES* couple anywhere in Scotland from 1880 through 1905 that look likely given that in the results there are no Herberts and none in Kircudbright.

Do you have any other clues?

Best wishes
Jean

Sorry not at the moment.  I'm going to have to get Herbert Leslie Thompson's birth certificate first I think.  I found there are 2 or 3 families by the name in Kircudbright in the 1850s but can't trace them to modern times so don't know if they connect.  I'm going to go to the registrar in a couple of weeks and get the certificate and try again.  It was a long shot
