CLEWES, Staffordshire 19th C
« on: Tuesday 15 August 06 12:41 BST (UK) »
I am interested in the CLEWES family of Horton / Hanley in Staffordshire.  Please get in touch if you share this interest.

I am particularly interested in Jesse and Elizabeth Clewes and family.  Jesse was born around 1806 and had children including Emma, Ann, Elizabeth, Jesse, Sarah and Ellen but also interested in the wider family.

Best wishes

Hi William

Thanks for your reply.

I wonder if Hannah could be Jesse's sister?  Horton and Burslem aren't far apart.

Best wishes

Hi Ticker, I have a Ralph Eaton who married a Ann Clowes in 1753, Ann was born about 1724. Ralph and Ann's children were all baptised in Horton. Know it is a bit far out but any relation?

Ticker the IGI states that a Jesse Clewes was Baptized in Horton in 1807,the son of James and Ann Clewes, whereas I am working on basis that the Hannah Clewes Baptized in January in Wolstanton, and the daughter of Thomas and Mary Clewes is mine.

Hi Anna

Thanks for the reply.  I don't know of a connection but I expect there must be one somewhere.  I'll let you know if I find one.

Best wishes

Hi Ticker, Thanks very much for getting back to me, I thought it was maybe a bit to far back to find a link at present. For the future, I think Ann's parents may have been called John and Ann.

Thanks again
