Monumental Inscription - Alness Old Churchyard
« on: Thursday 17 August 06 19:08 BST (UK) »
Hello there,

I'm led to believe that there is one headstone in Alness Old Churchyard with the surname McRury on it. I would be very grateful if someone could confirm the inscription.

Thank you
John

Yes John, there is one & it says;
In memory of our beloved father, Malcolm LAING M.A. J.P., who ministered for 50 years in the parishes of Applecross, South Uist & Alness; born 1888 at Cnoc an Torran, North Uist, died March 1968; and our beloved mother Mary Catherine MACRURY, born 1900 at Stillgarry, South Uist, died Nov 1970 "Cus am Bris an Lat"

Hope that is of help,

Don

Hello Beauly,

That has been a lot of help. I know precisely who Mary is. The additional info is a bonus.
Many thanks for taking the trouble to assist.

John
