Hi Trevor
OK here goes - hope this helps...

Henry Stevenson was the son of Matthew Stevenson and Mary Martin.  Dad always called his full name as Henry Martin Stevenson.

We think Henry was one of 13 children, 7 girls and 6 boys - they were from the Linwood/Elderslie area of Paisley.

Their names in no particular order are (this is from Dad's memory remember!) Bessy (Elizabeth - possibly married a Cameron), James, John (think he and his wife lost twins), Sandy (Alexander - think he went to America), Henry (Grandad), Bella (Isobel - married a Chittick?, was a highland dancer and had daughters), the other names Dad can't remember, sorry...

Henry married Lily Ethell, Julia and William Ethell came to live at Calside, but Grandad Henry said he left and was never seen again, apparently Julia liked to rule the roost!!!  I can't find any trace of William after this time, maybe you have better resources to track him down...

Henry and Lily had 8 children, in no order, Margaret (married Michael Keenan - they live in Brixton, London), James (Dad - married Nora Kilham 1957 Aug 3, had Gail 1962, Wendy 1967), William (married Isa - adopted daughter Aileen), Harry (Died of heart attack, was divorced, think his son went to Canada/Aust?), Matthew (married? lived in Ayrshire?, died 2006), John (married Beryl - two daughters, live in Swanscombe, Kent), Andrew (married Erica - had sons - not sure how many).

Have photo of Henry and Lily will send soon

Wendy

Hello, I know its been a long time since anyone commented on this thread, but I've only found this tonight after looking into my family tree. My dad was called Henry Martin Stevenson, born 1948 and his father was also called Henry Martin Stevenson and born in 1920.

Henry & Lily were my dads grandma and grandad and therefore my great grandma and grandad. My dad grew up in Ayr and Canada and he didn't recall living in Paisley but his mother and father were married in Paisley in 1943. I know my dads dad divorced his wife Jane at some point, but don't know what happened to him after that. I can't seem to find any death records for him, so he may have moved away from Scotland?

We moved to Kent in the 80s and I gather theres more of the extended family in Kent judging by this thread? I would love to see any pictures or find out anything about this side of my family as it is truly fascinating after thinking my family was so small!
