Tullett family only on 1851 census??
« on: Saturday 19 August 06 07:31 BST (UK) »
A bit of a puzzle. If anyone can help me find the Tulletts on any other census I'll be most grateful.

On 1851 Census (Ho107, Folio 312, P10):

William Tullett, head,63, born Cowfold.
John Tullett, son, 37, Slaugham
George Tullett, son,16, Slaugham
Amos Tullett, son, 11, Slaugham
Richard, son, 9, Slaugham

But I can't find them on 1841, nor on 1861 onward. Can't find births, marriages or deaths for this lot.

As far as I can Tell William is my Gt (X4) grandfather, but he's proving very elusive as are the rest of the family.

All suggestions / help much appreciated

Hi Mark,

here is a possibility for William and John

1841 Census  Slaugham Sussex

Wm Tullett, 54, Ag Lab
John Tullet, 28,
Ann Vincent, 27, Female Servant
George Vincent, 5
Amos Vincent, 2

All born in the county

HO107/1111/12
Folio: 47
Page: 9

George and Amos Vincent are close to the ages of George and Amos Tullett.

I could be very wrong but I'm wondering if the young children are John's? ???

Regards
Darcy

HI Darcy,

Thanks,

Yes I would think that was them as Ann Vincent was on the1851 as 'servant' too.

Thanks so much- looks like my family were up to 'no good' again. Mmm - was William their father or perhaps John? I'll have to check to see if any Tulletts married an Ann Vincent in the local area.

Thank you so much.

Mark, ;D

I just added to my post to say that I think the children might be John's. I can see Amos Vincent as a lodger in Slaugham in 1861 and 1871. There is no sign of an Amos Tullett.
