Blood is thicker than water!!
« on: Monday 21 August 06 19:35 BST (UK) »
Hi All
I didn't really take notice until I started to plan my tree out on the computer.
My husbands ancestors married my ancestors, until you start delving into your past, you never know what you might find  :)
Perhaps it could be a new cliche, instead of the old "Do I know you from somewhere" etc: chat up lines, it could be "I think your in my Family Tree"   ;D .
Has anyone else noticed this as well?
Best wishes .....Iris  :)

Hi Iris

Yes, I can link my tree to my husbands via inlaw relationships back in the 1800s ;D

I know that hubby's and my family do not link even as far back as the early 1800's as his are from Scotland and mine are all from Wales but if you saw the resemblance between quite afew family members from both sides you would say there is a link there somewhere. We were the frist ones the link the family and then my youngest brother married hubby's niece so now my children's 1st cousins are also my grandsons 2nd cousins - confusing? I would say so

Now going to my side again I am sure there is a link between my Mum and dad's sides as they eventually lived in the same villages and towns as each other. Thomas' married Owen so I now have to see if there is any link there. Should be fun trying to explain that to mum and dad as Mum has always said they could be related.

My husband and my ancestors are not related as far as I know, but I did find this little snippet early on in my research.

In 1881, my husband's great grandfather and gg grandfather were on a vessel on the River Hull.
On the vessel moored next door was MY great grandfather's brother.

Did the conversation go, " How would guess, in 90 years time we will be related ..."
