I am trying to establish details of a relation who was killed during ww2, he was Kenneth Greenfield, son of Clara & William, Morley St, Hillsboro, Sheffield.

If you don’t know about the Commonwealth War Graves Commission you probably don’t know about the CD called - ARMY ROLL OF HONOUR 1939-45. SOLDIERS DIED IN WORLD WAR TWO.  This is held in most reference libraries.  My interest lies with WW1 so I have not looked at this but it should be freely available to view and should tell you something.

The website link given below will give you most of the places to look, but the best source will probably be the local newspaper, there will almost certainly be a report of his death in there.  Some of these can be quiet detailed, I read one report about a Huddersfield ATS girl killed in an accident and it gave a lot of family information.  Definitely worth looking for.
