Rootschat Profile
« on: Friday 25 August 06 16:30 BST (UK) »
I am still in the process of learning what I can or can't do on rootschat.

When I click on the "Profile button" there is a heading "show postings". If I click on "show postings" I see / find all the postings I have sent on Rootschats.com. I currently have about 140 postings.

Is there a way to delete postings that I no longer need or find useful? Is there a way to delete my postings to certain subject areas such as the lighter side,  polls I have responded to,  Is there a way or how can I periodically clean up this part or section?

Thanks.

Hi yn9man,

in short: No, we don't delete posts.

RootsChat is regularly searched by Google and other search engines, (and through the "Search RootsChat" button) so even though you are finished with your posts, there may be other people searching for the same names, to whom your posts might still be useful.

The exceptions are if you realise you have made a mistake, in which case you can  ask a moderator to move or delete the post.

And also, if you start a topic, then, as long as no one has replied to it, you can delete it - but only till the first reply is posted  :) :)

Bob -

Thanks for your prompt reply. I thought I had read somewhere that it was a good idea to periodically "clean up" your rootschat file.

Thanks again. You and the others responsible for maintaining this site do a marvelous job. Kudos to all involved.
