Could you help with this name please.

William TUCKER     (TUCKRAFT)  Why is this in brackets.   

would this be a name change or where would this name originate, I found this in on a page written by his wife many years ago. Could it be his mothers maiden name. or could that be LUCKRAFT. On his death certificate in 1847 he was William TUCKER.
