The 2002 electoral roll(version 8 of the infodisk) only have 5 people in thec country with the christian name of Hargreaves........but none have the surname Gill.

All 'up north' though. ;D

Does this help?

Carol,   Thank you for that information. "Up north" is where my lot are.  Would it be possible for you to let me have these names and details when convenient please?  It's not only the GILLs who used Hargreaves as a christian name in our family- so this infomation may well fit elsewhere in what I am pursuing.
Thanks again for your help,
charlotte

Maureen,
Thanks for the reply.  For you to look in the 2003 electoral roll would be good, if that is possible. It's recent and maybe there is a Hargreaves GILL there who has died since 2003- checking it could only help bring me closer to these elusive descendants.

May I be cheeky and ask if there is a Hargreaves UTTLEY or
a Jonas UTTLEY on the roll also?

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it,
charlotte

Hi Carol,
Thanks for the PM.  The reply I sent as a PM got a bit mixed up due to my lack of know how with PMs- so am just covering the situation with this.  Thanks for the message.

Hello Charlotte

I've had a look and there is no Hargreaves Gill, although quite a few hundred Gills in the North.

No Hargreaves or Jonas Uttley either but again a hundred or so Uttleys in the North, around the Accrington/ Ashton Under Lyne and Burnley area

Hullo Maureen,
Thank you for looking. Disappointing but then I suppose it's a way-out hope that families will continue to use the same names for ever.  If only...

Thank you again,
charlotte

Thank you all for the help you have given me in this search.

I appreciate the time you have spent and your kindness.

If  our ancestors knew how we hunt for information  on them they'd be astonished. They'd have stuck to using family names, for a start.  And not moved around England. And never married anyone names Smith or Wilson...

Thank you again,
charlotte
