Advice Please - Irish Research - Help
« on: Wednesday 03 November 04 18:33 GMT (UK) »
Please could someone advise me on research in Ireland.

I know my gggg grandfather John Tymon was born in Ireland in about 1790 but don't know where (Roscommon or Sligo are suspects).  What ways would people recommend to pursue this line?  Can I do anything online?  Do I need to visit and if so where would I start?  Are there any good researchers in Ireland you could recommend.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi Ticker,

To go that far back you either need a parish/townland name and be lucky with the parish records or try the spinning wheel premium entitlements lists or the tithe applotment records. Tricky...
