Good isn't it Carol ?

This is I believe the mother :-

Births :

Jan/Feb/Mar 1838
~~~~~~~~
Fagg,  Mary Ann     Blean  5 56
(Blean is in Kent.....about 15 miles from Chatham....where a Mary A Jackson was born come the 1881 Census - same woman ? Canterbury and Maidstone are nearer that Chatham to Blean)
At last !!!  So he was legit   ;)
The wedding cert should give you both their ages and fathers names, and take you back another generation.
It might even mention his regiment - now there would be something - if you could get his military record  ;D
Wendi :)
Er, yes............it says 52nd Regiment of Light Infantry on the Birth Cert !
I missed that earlier.............but it was known info.
*******************
I've tried to look back a little further to the Father (Joseph's) birth approx 1838-ish.
Looked in Bedfordshire, and have found something from the 1851 Census - shows a Joseph born approx 1836, with a Father called Thomas (the same as the 1871 child).
Wendi, you are correct.......the 1866 Marriage Cert I have just ordered !!! Despatch 19th Sept
Will be interesting to see what that says - again I will post up.
Of course, if I ordered up one of the Birth Certs of the earlier Births of the Fagg Sons, that would possibly have the father.........another time.
It was on the first page of this Thread and also on one of the other ones linked.
Anyway, once I get the Marriage Cert - I'll post up the details.
This has been a brilliant Thread - I have got so much further than I expected from 3 weeks ago.
Many many thanks
Simon
I got the MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE TODAY !!!!
Very exciting indeed :-
Details.............
Marriage Date - 11th July 1866 - Registry office at Farnham District
Joseph Jackson - 31 years old - Batchelor
Mary Ann Fagg - 25 years old - Widow (!!!!)
He was a Corporal in the 52nd Regiment.....so thankfully better than Private - something to research further later on.
She had no job or profession
Both living at Aldershot (army link)
Their respective fathers names :-
His - Joseph Jackson (deceased) - Weaver
Hers - Jeremiah Hollis (deceased) - Soldier
**************************************************
So, it's definately them ! These are the parents of my Thomas Henry Jackson born Malta 1871.
Now need to find out details on both the fathers. And secondly, to find out the dates of Mary Ann's marriage to Mr Fagg !
Getting most exciting and also has enabled me to go back to what will be my GGGG Grandfathers.
