Register of mine owners (jin pits)
« on: Monday 28 August 06 12:23 BST (UK) »
My uncle left me some information concerning the origins of the family from Dawley Magna.  He said that an ancestor of ours (Chilton) owned some jin pits, this would be late 1700s to early 1800s.  Is there a register of mine owners for Shropshire covering this period?

I can't answer your question I'm afraid but it might be worth you contacting the Shropshire Mines Trust http://shropshiremines.org.uk/smt/smtint.htm (scroll down to the bottom of the page and there's a name and number you can contact).

Good luck.
