Christening of Emily or Emma BEVAN 1835/36
« on: Monday 28 August 06 21:46 BST (UK) »
Can any body help?
I am looking for a record of the christening or birth of Emily Bevan born around 1835/36 at Pontypool Wales. At least that is where she states she was born in the 1851 census. She seems to have used the name Emma in later life so I suppose I am looking for the birth or christening of either Emily or Emma Bevan.  Her parents were John Bevan and Ann Bevan( formerly Denmed or Denmead, or Denmaid).
Have I got this in thecorrect county for Pontypool?
Many thanks in anticipation of your help.
Regards
Brian

She doesn't seem to appear in the baptisms transcribed online for Trevethin which was the parish that covered Ponytpool then. It's actually in Monmouthshire. Records are held at the Gwent Record Office in Cwmbran. You can get the address on Genuki.

Hello Brian
I typed this before Ospreys reponse and am too lazy to change it.

You are in the wrong county but no matter.
Pontypool was in Trevethin parish .Monmouthshire.
Cannot see her in the Parish records of Trevethin
on Mike Johns web site . Check yourself.

She may have therfore been christened in a non conformist place.
Can only suggest you contact the following source in the hope that they have the record.

HI Osprey & Rhys,
Sorry about the delay in replying to your reply to my message. I had to go away on business at short notice and I only just got home.
Thanks for your help. I will follow up the links you have given me over the weekend.
Regards
Brian
