Does anyone know anything about Leitcheston?
« on: Tuesday 29 August 06 11:27 BST (UK) »
Family of Hay were listed as living at Lietcheston in Banffshire up to 1860s. Now there is a sign, an old dovecot and a new house there. Does anyone know what was there in the past or have any information?
Thanks
Karen

The only thing I can discover about Leicheston is that there is a farm whose address is:

Leicheston Farm,
Enzie,
Buckie,
Banffshire AB56 5BW.

and Leicheston Cottages AB56 5BL.

A website mentions that Leicheston was purchased by the Duke of Gordon from the Gordons.

From the "House of Gordon" by JM Bulloch "Leitcheston is a small property in Rathven, Banffshire" the first "Gordon of Leichestoun dwelt in the Enzie". Unfortunately i didn't find any reference when it passed to the Hay family.
