Hi

I have quite a good size tree (see my website http://fp.cotswan.plus.com)
However I have never been to a Record office - is this a record

(I have been to the Surrey History centre though)

Well done Stonechat!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

However you really do have to visit Record Offices if you want to do more than just collect names.  If you want to learn about the history of your family it is amazing what collections can be viewed at them.  I have looked at old rent books and auction records as well as parish registers to name a few.  They are brilliant places to visit and I could stay for days.   ::) ::) ::)

I live in one of the remotest places on the planet but still value my trips to Archives, Libraries, etc. Even if a lot is available on line it's amazing what you can get by just visiting the places your ancestors lived in - the flavour of things.

Else, as kerry says, it's just name and date collecting  :(

true about the 'feel' - never would have known that Coningsby has the only working one-handed church clock otherwise !

disagree about 'just name collecting' tho ...
