Query re emails you send ... and error messages

I sometimes get this message when I recieve an email telling me there is a new posting on something I'm watching ...


An Error Has Occurred!
The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.  


Why ? and if I'm not allowed to see some posting, why is there an email telling me to look at it ??!!

This message would imply that the topic you are being directed to has been removed (perhaps for copyright or unsuitability for a family site reasons) or has possibly been merged with another topic.  Could that perhaps be the case

Nope, because its sometimes been topics I've started, and I've accessed them another time !

Are you always logged on when this happens

If you get a notification from a topic on the "EVEN LIGHTER Lighter side" and you click on the link, but you are not logged into RootsChat, then you will also get this message

N.B.  . . . or off limits to you.    (as a guest)

I think I'm logged on; we have modern Lan cable, wireless, broadband, etc ... I believe I'm always connected to the internet; however, when I use the computer it tells me I have email, and I click on them ... but haven't necessarily been to 'Favourites' and clicked on ROOTS first !!  Is that what you mean ??

I can use the thing, but haven't a clue how it works !

There is a difference between connected to the internet and being logged on to RootsChat.

Guests can see all of RootsChat except the "Even lighter lighter side" board, so if you looked at your e-mails, and clicked on a notification, before logging on to RootsChat, then you could get that error message.

yes, you can call me Bob, everyone else does
(although when my wife called me 'Robert !' I knew I was in trouble)

Of course, getting a virus in the computer can also affect the mouse ...
