Looking at the names I would think that the Mary who is married to Charles Stirland in 1901 will be Polly on the other census.

My Aunt Mary was called called Polly and this was quite common. I'll have a look for the marriage ref.l

Can't trace whereabouts of Eliza Ann Bexon in 1901

There is a marriage reference for Eliza Ann Bexon qrt ending December 1889 Basford 7b 208

The 2 possible spouses are Harry Hooks and John William West but can't match these up in 1901. There is an Eliza A West with a John but birthplace is Lenton Notts

If you are keen to find out you would have to send for the marriage cert.

Yes I will look into that it looks as if I will have to send for a few certificates to make sure of things. I don't mind sending for birth and marriage certificates but death certificates don't give enough information.

Well, they give cause of death and informant and that can be quite revealing I think.

I have never bought a death cert for verification - by the time I am at that stage I know who they are and want to know how they died.

For instance I was quite upset to discover one of my line(not Gent or Bowskill) in an asylum recorded as a lunatic - quite distressing.

When I received the death cert it said that he died from an epileptic fit in the asylum. Although horrible this was quite a relief as there was no other way of looking after epileptics at the time.  He must have had a dreadful life and died in his 30's. I found his wife and child - my great grandfather - in lodgings near the asylum.  At least she stayed nearby.

Bit perplexed by the 1841 posting. There are 2 Eliza's and 1 Elizabeth in the family.By 1851 there is just one Eliza.

Girls are often tricky to sort out unless they have unusual names and there must be other Gents with the same first names in Bulwell
