McKechnie

Would like information on Archibald McKechnie (parents Peter and Jane (nee Fletcher) born around 1849 Greenock, married Elizabeth Allen and had son archibald (greenock) around 1871, and then married Elizabeth Glass and had son James (paisley) in 1880. Would like to know whether any more children were born.

Mary McKechnie 17 Sep 1869, Middle or New Parish, Greenock.
Archibald McKechnie 18 Apr 1871  "    "     "        "    ,
Greenock.
William McKechnie 9 Aug 1874, Middle-East-West Parishes,
Greenock.

There may be further children of the second marriage but the I.G.I. only records births and marriages up to about 1875.

Further to my last post, Archibald McKechie and Elizabeth Glass married in 1878 at Paisley. Should you want to see the certificate you would need to go to http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.  This is pay per view and costs £6.00 which allows you to view 5 certificates.

I could find no record of the first marriage.

hi pal,

found your archie on the 1881 census with wife elizabeth glass but that was all i could find!!!!!

1881 census- 4 alice street, paisley

archibald...age 32...labourer
elizabeth...age 25
archibald...age 10
james...age 9 months
bella glass...sister-in-law...age 16...bleacher

so i wondered if the family was with the glass family?

james glass married isabella bradley 27/8/1855 greenock

elizabeth born 17/4/1858

time for marriage certs i think as i can only find an archibald with a peter and jane in the 1861 census but she is jane mcfarlane who married peter on the 12/11/1845, and they are both from argyllshire.
