Hi Kev

If this is your first venture into Australian certificates you should be  pleased with the result - Our death certificates are rather like a one person census, with a little extra thrown in.  This site gives the information for each state

Hi Trish, it is and i wish the Uk death certs were as good!!

I have very little cash at the minute and didn't know how much 15 ausd was, when i worked out about £6 i thought it was well worth it,knowing my luck i worked it out wrong and its £20. Hope not anyway ;D ;D

With all this wonderful info people are giving me it says me a fortune.

No, No need to worry about that mate, you are right in your conversion.
British pounds 6 for our  $15 ..

It is quite a difference and one of the reassons that people outside uk like to be fairly certain about a  ancestor before they order a certificate from your gro.gov.uk.  This is where the census site and helpful UK searchers really are so appreciated.

At about $35 it is a noticable chunk.

A girlfriend of mine says she spends more on certs from UK than on clothes.  Easy to do.
Anyhow,  We all hope you will keep us informed when it arrives as the Clarks are starting to feel like family !!!
I wonder why the Eliza S/Zucker was living in a hotel in1926.
Mmm...Not finished yet really.
Sue

Thanks Sue, glad to know the maths part of my brain is still working , i will try and scan some of the transcrips of the letters over the weekend and post them.

When i first started doing this i spent a fortune on certs, as it happened probably worth it, but thats not always the case!!

Hi Jenn and All
Well, yes there are a lot of Suckers at the Morphett Cemetery, but when you really study the Births, Marriages and Deaths available on them through bdm.nsw. you see that there are are 3 generations of them.  You have to tie the inscriptions to the bdms
Anyhow this is the approximate picture.
There were 3 Eliza Suckers, [2 of them Eliza Ann]
1. Eliza [nee Stace] married to John.
Parents of HENRY WILIAM [among others]
2. Eliza Ann  [our suspect!]who married HENRY WILLIAM and died 1938
3. Eliza Ann daughter of HENRY WILLIAM.d. 1952

The 2 listings for Suckel in the cemetery are misprints of Sucker.  They are sons of Eliza Ann (2)

I have just about got the ins & outs unravelled and agree that the 1938 death is the one of interest and Henry William died 1915
It gets hard when they just keep using the same name over & over.
EXCEPT for Ernest RECORD [most unusual!!] which made me laugh because I think he was child number 10 or 11 or 12 for Eliza and probably a RECORD for the area.

Hello  all

I haven't been able  to find a marriage for  Henry W Sucker and Eliza Ann????? either

have  tried  the neighboring states  nothing at all, could  they  have been married  and  it  not been "regisitered"

I Guess if  Kev  gets a death  certificate or three it  may  un ravel  the mystery a bit  more

The  only  way of knowing  if Eliza Ann Sucker is  related  is  to get the death certificate  and hope  like hell  that the  informant  knew  the correct details, but  then Kev, you don't know  her maiden  name as yet either, do you?

I just got  in the mail  yesterday  a NSW  marriage certificate for my ggp's  and wouldn't  you know  the information  that I really wanted  was blank  no  parents details or place of birth no occupations  nothing  filled in, Bugger!!!!, but  nil desperandum as they say  it  does say  the church  they  were married at in Coota so  I still have an avenue to search 8)

It is a  risk  we all take :o

regards Jenn

Hi all

According to "Greville's Post Office Directory" of 1872, John Sucker was an Innkeeper, Swan Street, Morpeth.

In 1888 John Sucker was the Publican of the "Crown & Anchor Hotel" in Morpeth.
In 1892 Mrs Sucker had repairs done to the "Crown & Anchor Hotel"

The "Crown & Anchor" doesn't appear exist in present day, but possibly renamed the "Commercial Hotel" given the street location.

The following are some pictures of the "Commercial Hotel" Morpeth

This link maybe b helpful.
