Thank you for that.  Its nice to find this information out from someone who knows their stuff!

I will hopefully be visiting the library in a couple of days as I'd to find a photo of him in his uniform for my mum.

I have tried to get in touch with the Royal Leicestershire Regiment Museum, but it is temporarily closed - reopening early 2007!

I have looked through the local newspaper at the local library, but no photos, and no mention of my great grandad.

My other option is to look through the Leicester newspaper at that time, so I will be visiting the local Records Office.

Has anyone any more suggestions?

Would the medal card have a picture of him on?  Is it worth me ordering it?
